About S.R.
Mr. S.
Radhakrishnan was born in India and lived in the U.S. for
nearly 25 years, the last decade being spent in Austin, TX. He had a
distinguished career with IBM and was awarded several patents for his
innovations in software technology. In his community, he served as
president and board member of several organizations, including the
Austin Tamil Sangam and the Indian Community Center in Austin.
S. Radhakrishnan was outgoing, well respected, and very dedicated to his family, career,
and community. Those who remember him would clearly describe him as being
full of life, energy, and ambition.
Among his life-long goals was a commitment to developing the next
generation. He realized that education, well-defined goals, and hard work
were critical to one’s success and he tried to instill those values to his
family and to his community. He took great pride in raising his two sons
and being directly involved with the youth of his community. He knew that
they were the future and needed to be mentored and guided accordingly.
His efforts to develop the younger generation came to an unexpected end as
he was diagnosed with cancer. Unfortunately, after a tough battle, Mr. S.
Radhakrishnan succumbed to the illness at a relatively early age.
In hopes to carry on his vision, his family established the S.
Radhakrishnan Foundation with a mission to support young students affected
by cancer.
With the help of generous donors, the foundation will provide scholarships
to deserving students to help pay for higher education. By investing in
promising students today, the foundation hopes to help build tomorrow’s
future.
